Genevieve has always been fascinated by birth and she knew one day she would want to work with women and babies. She had her first exposure to home birth when she was in high school. Her church youth leader had her baby at home with two midwives. Genevieve was still unsure of home birth and midwifery back then but as time passed and she became more educated on the subject, her passion for natural birth grew and she knew she would want to be a midwife someday. After getting her B.A. in psychology from San Diego State University and not wanting to pursue a career in psychology, she realized she should not wait to have the career of her dreams just because she was unmarried and had never been pregnant or given birth.
Genevieve started her midwifery studies in 2013 and began working with Kate at Family Centered Birth in early 2014. She has been a part of over 100 births since this time. She received her Certified Professional Midwifery degree in November 2016 and was officially licensed to practice in the state of California in January 2017. She gave birth to her first baby, June 2017, at the birth center, in the back birthing room. She is enjoying being a Mom and Midwife.

I fell in love with pregnancy and motherhood during my first pregnancy. To me, pregnancy was a miracle and motherhood a joy. I fell in love with the birth process after my second child was born, this time at home with a midwife. I had never experienced anything so powerful, so challenging, or so beautiful. I knew then that I wanted to help other women have the kind of empowering birth experience that I had. I wanted to provide safe, supportive and loving care for women as they crossed the threshold into motherhood.
My passion for birth, for women and for babies has only increased over the years. I have been supporting women during childbirth in the various capacities of doula, student midwife, birth assistant, and primary care midwife since 2009. As a Licensed Midwife, I look forward to serving you as you plan your birth. I believe that birth is inherently a natural process, and that it can be both beautiful and empowering. Each birth experience is unique and every baby is a brand new miracle.
As a Licensed Midwife, my role is to support and educate you during pregnancy and birth so that you are able to make informed decisions regarding your care. My goal is to help you have a safe and fulfilling birth experience.
